He moved with Sir Gorges to his home three miles from Plymouth afterhis fathers death. He was an expert in communicating with the indians.He went on many expeditions toNew England to explore and to fish. Hewent on the expeditions of 1607, 1616, 1619 and 1621. By 1622, Davidwas Gorges's right hand man for affairs in England. He set up atrading post and fishing station in New Hampshire, 1623; and a tradingpost on Thompson's Island, Massachusetts Bay, 1625.
He was an apothecary, a mariner, a builder and a trader. He workedeasily with the red men and white. He built a fort for Gorges at themouth of the Piscataqua River in 1621. He built fishermen's'habitations' at Pascattaway Harbor in 1623. He built the firstsubstantial houses in Boston, 1624/5. He aided the pilgrims. He diedon his island when he was thirty-five.
