He resided at Salem and Glouchester, Massachusetts. He bought 55 acresfrom George Cleeve in the Casco Bay area where he then resided in thePortland/Falmouth district with his wife, Elizabeth. He was one chosento mett with the commission established by the General Court toreestablish the disputed jurisdiction of Massachusetts. He was aselectman of Flamouth, Maine (now part of Portland) in 1652. He wascommisioned a lieutenant and commanded militia at Falmouth. DuringKing Phillip's Was he lost a son, his plantation was attacked and hishouse destroyed. George went back to Salem and returned to Falmouth in1680. He was commissioned by the general court to lay out a new townsite of 1000 acres and to make allottments. When American Indianattacks again threatened, he at age 72 withdrew to Salem again andescaped the second destruction of Falmouth. He was a shipwright.
