Died sometime between May 6, 1682 and May 6, 1683. Name may be Libbey.He came
from Broadstairs, in the Isle of Thanet, County Kent, England. Came toNew
England between 1630 and 1635. He went to Maine and was granted landat
Scarborough before 1640.
He first came to New England aboard the ship Hercules of Plymouth onFebruary
13, 1637. He moved to the Black point area which later becameScarborough.
Received a land grant from Henry Jocelyn on January 1, 1663 along whatcame to
be called Libby's River. Died 1683. Left Numerous Posterity. Was afisherman in
the Company of John Winter from December 15, 1636 to February 13,1639. Worked
again for John Winter in 1643. Suffered in the Indian War of 1676.Indians
burned his house & destroyed his cattle and corn.
