Christened in the Dutch Reformed Church in Smithfield, Pa. Smithfieldwas
a small town, and that was the only church listed there at that time.
The connections with Joseph, the son of Samuel, who married Rebecca,are
not all proved to date. I do have a copy of a certificate givingpermission
for Joseph, the son of a Samuel, to marry in Oct of 1806, in MasonCo., Ky.
The marriage permission also was agreed to by Marshall parker, fatherof the
intended bride, Nancy Parker.
Connections with Samuel (I have assumed this Samuel to be the rightone,
but have yet to find proof) and his parents are from the records ofthe
Smithfield church.
As of July of 1997 I know that Joseph, the father of Samuel DudleyWheeler, my
great grandfather, married Rebecca Craig, 15 aug 1809. Just how thisfits with
the Joseph who married Nancy Parker in Oct 1806, I don't yet know.
