[258] Thomas was one of the proprietors and early pioneers in thesettlement of Andover. His name is twenty-third of householders inorder as they came to town. He was employed by George Abbott, Sen.,and others to lay out lands granted to individuals by General Court.He was representative to the General Court in 1678 and 1679 fromAndover, Massachusetts. Sarah Loring Bailey, historian of Andoversaid, "Thomas Chandler was a blacksmith, ultimately a rich man,carrying on a considerable iron works." He was probably buried in thegraceyard at North Andover.
