[707] He came to America with his parents in 1738. The family livednear East Cocalico township near Conestoga, Pennsylvania until about1959. He was a large landowner in Rowan County, North Carolina. He wasnaturalized at Salisbury District Court on March 23, 1763. He servedwith the North Carolina militia in 1759. During this time they marchedagainst the Cherokee Indians and were involved in several skirmisheswith them. After the American Revolution, Jacob removed to what laterbecame Washington County, Tennessee. In 1796 he was deeded land inWashington County by John Rimeal, which was described as "145 acres ona branch of Little Limestone whereon Jacob Brown now lives." This landwas located near the present town of Telford, several miles west ofJonesborough.
