[242] He was a torrey. He was Vicar of Wherewell. He was a reformer. Hecame to America on the "William and Francis", arriving at Cambridge,MA on June 5, 1632 at age 71. After twenty years in America herreturned to England. When he was twenty he was matriculated to thecollege of St. John, Oxford. He earned his BA from St. Johns College,Oxford on February 3, 1586. He came to America on the "William andFrancis", arriving at Cambridge, MA on June 5, 1632 at age 71. He wasa leader of the settlement of Hampton, NH and is said to have namedthe town. His name was usually spelld Bachiler, but his children inAmerica used the name Batchelder. Famous Descendants: PresidentRichard Milhous Nixonis both a tenth and an eleventh generationdescendant, and Daniel Webster was a seventh generation descendant.
