In 1633 he left Braintree in England and came to Dorchester,Massachusetts on the ship "Griffin" and settled briefly in Cambridge.He stayed there until 1636. In 1636 he went from Boston to Hartfordwith Reverend Thomas Hooker. He went to Windsor in 1637. He went withCaptain John Mason in the "Pequot fight". He was one of the 127proprietors at Hartford in 1639. He was a member of the 1st church inHartford. He was a highway surveyor in 1648 for Windsor.
He is known to have been in conflict with John Clark, since Johnpresumably succeeded in securing the most desirable pew in the church,which both men attended.
